After a brilliant 13-year run in Durham, Duke baseball coach Chris Pollard has taken the Virginia job.
Realistically, while losing a great coach stinks, most of us have no idea what this means in the new environment. It’s entirely possible for instance that Virginia is going to put more money into Olympic sports than Duke will and that would make taking a new job very logical.
The truth is that, post House settlement, we just don’t know what’s what and how things are going to evolve.
Whatever his reasons are, Pollard did an amazing job at Duke and we owe him gratitude for that. Best of luck to him at Virginia, except of course when they play Duke.
