Rangers are monitoring a possible move for Motherwell midfielder Elliot Watt, with the situation being labelled as “one to watch” by journalist Andy Devlin.
The Ibrox club have already been active during the January transfer window, completing their third addition by securing Andreas Skov Olsen on loan from Wolfsburg.
Midfielder Tochi Chukwuani has also arrived to strengthen options in the centre of the pitch, while left-back Tuur Rommens put pen to paper earlier in the winter period.
More reinforcements could still arrive before the deadline as Rangers look to build momentum following a challenging start to the campaign.
The Glasgow giants have enjoyed a noticeable upturn in form since the appointment of Danny Rohl, giving the board renewed confidence to support the former Sheffield Wednesday boss in the market.
Rohl is keen on Watt
Appearing on the Go Ballistic podcast on YouTube, Devlin revealed that Watt is firmly on Rangers’ radar.
The 25-year-old midfielder is admired by Rohl, and any potential move, whether in January or the summer, is being closely monitored.
“Elliot Watt is a player Rangers are looking at. Whether he moves in the summer, that’s one to watch. Rohl likes him a lot.
When teams outside the traditional powers are performing well, their managers and standout players naturally draw attention,” Devlin explained.
Watt has been in outstanding form for Motherwell this season and has earned widespread praise for his performances.
Scout and analyst Kai Watson recently described him as “the best midfielder in the league,” underlining his growing reputation.
Watt was also named Scottish Premiership Player of the Month for December after a series of influential displays.
So far this campaign, the midfielder has made 20 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, contributing four goals and two assists, while consistently dictating play from the middle of the park.
Rangers eye late title push
After a poor opening to the 2025/26 season, Rangers have spent recent months closing the gap at the top of the table.
Rohl’s arrival, following the departure of Russell Martin, has proven effective, with the team now riding a strong wave of momentum after winning their last five league matches.
Going into the weekend’s fixtures, Rangers sit six points behind leaders Hearts, whom they are still due to face before the season concludes.
Should Rangers add further quality before the window shuts, providing Rohl with extra depth and flexibility, there is belief they could mount a late challenge for the Scottish Premiership title, particularly given the ongoing inconsistency shown by rivals Celtic.
