“Diontae’s suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a brief statement. “We have standards and expectations that apply to every player, and we felt this action was necessary.”
The incident reportedly occurred during the Ravens’ recent matchup against the Eagles, where Johnson was seen having an animated exchange with coaches on the sideline. According to sources close to the team, when asked to enter the game during a critical drive, Johnson declined, citing frustration with play-calling and a perceived lack of involvement in the offensive scheme.
Johnson, who was traded to Baltimore from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this offseason, had been expected to play a significant role in the Ravens’ receiving corps alongside Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
