Green Bay, WI – May 20, 2025 – The Green Bay Packers are opening the door to nostalgia, inviting two former players, David Bakhtiari and Micah Hyde, to participate in organized team activities (OTAs) starting May 27. Both unrestricted free agents (UFAs), Bakhtiari and Hyde are being considered for a potential return, bringing their unique skills back to Lambeau Field as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Bakhtiari, 33, played 11 seasons with the Packers, starting all 140 games at left tackle. His release in March 2024, due to a $20.2 million cap hit, left fans hopeful for a reunion. “I want to finish where it began,” Bakhtiari told ESPN, his voice laced with emotion. “Protecting the quarterback one last time would mean everything.” GM Brian Gutekunst acknowledged the possibility, saying, “David’s legacy here is immense. If he’s healthy, we’re open to it.”
Hyde, 34, spent four seasons (2013-2016) with the Packers, recording 234 tackles and 10 interceptions. After a successful stint with the Buffalo Bills, he’s now a UFA seeking a final chapter. “Green Bay’s where it all started for me,” Hyde posted on X. “Ready to contribute if they’ll have me.” His return could bolster the secondary, especially with Eric Stokes’ release creating a void. “Micah’s experience and leadership are exactly what we need,” defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley told The Green Bay Press-Gazette.
