I, for one, think it’s great that the Kansas football program has seen some success in recent years. That’s been a fun storyline to keep up with and watch and all that said I would really appreciate it if the Texas Tech Red Raiders found a way to continue owning the series against the Jayhawks.
I mean, it’s great that Kansas has been competitive and has seen a resurgence and revived interest in the Jayhawks football team. Still, I also think it’s great that Texas Tech has beaten Kansas literally 20 more times than the Jayhawks have managed to find a way to beat the Red Raiders.
And I would like for the lopsided nature of this series to continue on as we move forward in life. It would not be great for Texas Tech if the Jayhawks found a way to turn things around in this series. In fact, that would be the exact opposite of great.
Texas Tech football history: Kansas has a recent win vs. TTU, but the Red Raiders have a winning streak and own the series
This series is lopsided in Texas Tech’s favor. It really is. The Red Raiders have managed to go 23-3 when facing the Jayhawks.
And interestingly enough, Texas Tech is a bit better on the road when facing Kansas (a 12-1 road record) than the Red Raiders are at home against the Jayhawks (while 11-2 in Lubbock). It’s a small, odd quirk to this series.
Also literally all of Texas Tech’s losses against Kansas have come since both teams have been members of the Big 12. The Red Raiders are 19-3 vs. Kansas in the Big 12 era. Before that, Texas managed to have a 4-0 record against Kansas.
Clearly, VERY clearly, Texas Tech is better when it’s not a member of a conference.
The last time Kansas managed to get a win against Texas Tech was back in 2019. The Jayhawks have come a little close on a couple of occasions as they lost by a margin of 16-13 in both 2023 and 2020. But outside of that, this is a series that the Red Raiders currently control.
