Luke Combs made history on Thursday night. The Carolina native becoming the first-ever country headliner at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Combs, 35, delivered a two-hour set in Manchester, Tennessee with a few surprise guests in Miranda Lambert and Jon Bellion. The singer/songwriter, who is one of the most notable Carolina Panthers fans, also made received a unique honor before taking the stage.
Combs’ 2017 hit, ‘She Got the Best of Me,’ was the latest to reach diamond status. In the music industry, the status signifies work that has sold or streamed 10 million units in the United States, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. He took to social media to share the major accomplishment.
“Honored to have gotten the opportunity to headline @bonnaroo last night and I’ll never forget it, Combs wrote on Instagram. “Thank y’all for having us. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Also can’t believe a song I wrote while I was still in college before moving to Nashville is now diamond. Y’all are something else. Thank you!!”
Combs was also the last performer at the Bonnaroo Farm. The festival announced the rest of the acts would be canceled due to severe weather in the area lasting until Sunday night.
“Today, the National Weather Service provided us with an updated forecast with significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days,” Bonnaroo wrote in their post on Instagram. “We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo.”
